A true example of sustainable business practices can be found in the compostable organic coffee capsules from Bonga Red Mountain. Through cultivation, the local population secures its livelihood, primeval forests are sustainably protected through nature-friendly agriculture, and we get delicious coffee for our capsule machine.
Kaffa - Home of Coffee
The Kaffa region in Ethiopia is considered the origin of coffee. Here, Europeans first discovered how the indigenous people roasted coffee beans in pans. Even today, Arabica beans still grow wild in Kaffa and are collected by the local population for their own consumption. Through Bonga Red Mountain and the export of these flavorful beans, this poor region can secure a decent income, while also sustainably protecting its source of income—the rainforest.
Gabriel, Marketing ManagerTogether with the local population, international NGOs, and other stakeholders, we have been able to build a strong partnership. Today, over 150,000 people in Ethiopia benefit from the wild coffee trade, and Ethiopia's last mountain rainforests are sustainably protected.
